Touch a Truck 2014

One of the many fun things that Neenah puts on is touch a truck, where trucks of all shapes and sizes come to gather so the kids can explore. There are semi's, dump trucks, cranes, police cars, school buses, garbage trucks, street sweepers, tractors, race cars, fire trucks, etc. More than one can handle. For over a month this has been on our calender due to how much fun we had last year. I couldn't wait. Plans with friends were made to play and have a picnic afterwards, and bags were packed to spend the entire day. I was certain it was going to be a perfect day. Right up until we arrived.  The kids had a different plan. They were not impressed. In fact, they wanted nothing to do with the trucks and having them visit each one was a chore. A complete fight. Cal only wanted to go to the playground and I'm pretty sure Liam just wanted to go home and play the Wii. It was misable for everyone. I realized that I'll win some and lose some. So I gave up the fight and off to the playground we went. There was 10 minutes of happiness amongst everyone. I thought we might have a fighting chance to stay.  Boy, was I wrong. Liam fell in a puddle and not just a little puddle. He was soaked from the neck down. I literally could have rung out his clothes. He was scared. Confused. And cried for what seemed like forever. So we left which turned Cal into a crying fit. Luckly, home was 4 minutes away. Although, at one point it seemed like forever.

don't let this smile fool you.

Once we got home, I wasn't loosing hope for a picnic with my boys. We made it happen. Maybe not the way it was planned, but perfect none the less.
